Chinese Grand Prix Seating Guide 2026 | Best Grandstands at Shanghai F1
Shanghai: F1’s Longest Straight. The Sharpest Hairpin.
The Shanghai International Circuit is built around one defining moment: 330km/h down to 90km/h in a single braking zone. The 1.17km back straight feeds into a tight second-gear hairpin that produces more overtakes than any other corner on the calendar. Your seat choice comes down to one question: do you want the full picture or do you want to be in the thick of it?
The main grandstand at Shanghai is genuinely massive — 30,000 seats spanning the entire pit straight — and from the upper rows you can see about 80% of the track. But if you’ve come to watch cars brake from top speed into a hairpin with centimeters of margin, the Turn 14 grandstands put you at the heart of the action.
The Circuit in 2026
Shanghai’s layout forms the Chinese character “上” (shàng, meaning “above”). The back straight is one of the longest on the F1 calendar at 1.17 kilometers, giving drivers maximum time to build speed before the Turn 14 hairpin. Combined with DRS, this creates the biggest speed differential of any braking zone in F1.
Shanghai International Circuit layout with grandstand locations
Two DRS zones: one down the main straight into Turn 1, another down the back straight into Turn 14. The FIA extended the Turn 14 activation point by 75 meters for 2025, making passes even more likely. This change carries over to 2026.

Grandstand Guide
Grandstand A — Main Straight
Nearly 30,000 seats spanning the main straight. Views of the grid, pit lane, start/finish line, and podium. Upper tiers see over the pit buildings — roughly 80% of the circuit visible.
→ Platinum
Upper middle. Best pit/grid views. Covered. Some areas have indoor refreshments + AC.
→ High Gold
Upper tiers on either side of Platinum. Still 80% circuit visibility. Covered.
→ Low Silver
Lower deck. See grid/pit boxes but too low to see beyond the pit complex. Partly covered.
★ Best seats: Section A17C/D, upper tier, closest to Turn 1.
Grandstand B — Turn 1
End of main straight. Cars arrive at full speed before braking hard into Turns 1-2-3. Prime spot for lap 1 battles and late-braking moves.
★ Best seats: B4-B5 on approach side. Views down main straight and across to Turn 3.
⚠ Uncovered grandstand. Bring rain gear. Row 12+ recommended to see over fencing.
Grandstand K — Turn 14 Hairpin F1 RECOMMENDED
F1 officially recommends Grandstand K for overtaking. Positioned at hairpin exit, across from Grandstand H. Drivers brake from 330km/h to 90km/h — prime territory for late-braking moves.
★ Best seats: K1-K3, closest to hairpin. Great photo opportunities as cars slow to near walking pace.
Why K over H?
Grandstand H — Turn 14 Approach
End of the 1.17km back straight. Watch cars arrive at 330km/h before the biggest braking zone. Higher sections can see the pit lane entrance.
★ Best seats: H12A and H12B, closest to Turn 14.
✗ Avoid: Lower sections far from hairpin — fencing blocks the view.
